home for christmas

At the end of the semester I decided that, when I went home, I would go through my oft ignored "recipe" bookmark folder and try some things out. My mom's plethora of spices and electric mixer prompted me to make some cookies.

SPICE ROLL OUT COOKIES (via epicurious)

These cookies were delicious!! They were pretty easy to make, as long as you've got a good deal of spices and four hours to spare to wait for the dough to chill. I actually just left my dough in the fridge overnight, then baked them the next day. In the future, I might add more spices - the finished product was less spicy than expected. They're very good, though. My dad keeps sneaking them away when I'm not looking!

ROYAL ICING (via epicurious)
Again, delicious. It's been awhile since I had to seperate egg whites from the yolk. This recipe made way more icing than I needed for the cookies, but it would be perfect to eat with graham crackers as a really unhealthy snack.
